Fish Springs Marina is now offering Stand Up Paddle boarding as well as kayak rentals here on beautiful Watauga Lake.

SUP had its beginnings in the Hawaiian Islands. In the early 1960's the beach boys of Waikiki would stand on their long boards and paddle with outrigger paddles to take pictures of the tourists learning to surf. The sport benefits all levels of athletes though a strong core workout.

Unlike surfing, paddle boarding is easy to learn and you can be comfortable on the board and in the water in about 30 minutes. SUP targets both beginners and experienced boarders. The beginner segment is made up of those who have never tried paddle boarding but are eager to try it. Experienced boarders are looking for a recreational activity they can participate in and provide them hours of enjoyment while maintaining their fitness level.

RENTAL HOURS ARE FROM 9:00AM TO 4:00PM DAILY. NO RENTALS MAY DEPART AFTER 2 PM. NO OVERNIGHT RENTALS.

MUST BE USED ON WATAUGA LAKE, AND DEPART FROM FISH SPRINGS MARINA!

NO RIVER OR OFF-SITE USE ALLOWED!

NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES PERMITTED ON PADDLECRAFT!

Q: How old do I have to be to paddle-board by myself?
A: To ride a paddleboard by yourself you must be at lease 7 years old. Children 6 and younger must ride with a family member. PERSONS UNDER 16 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT 18 OR OLDER.

Q: What do I need to rent a paddleboard or other equipment?
A: You need a credit card and a valid driver’s license.

Q: Do I have to make reservations? Call us at 423-768-2336.
A: We currently have a walk-in only policy for paddle-craft rentals, unless you have a group of 5 or more. Groups should call ahead if 5 persons or more.

Q: What is your cancellation policy:
A: A 24 hour notice is required for group cancelations of 5 or more.

Q: What are your business hours?
A: We are open daily from 9:00AM — 4:00PM SEPTEMBER 9th, to OCTOBER 27th, 2024. Rentals stop at 2:00pm.

ON SEPTEMBER 9TH, 2024, HOURS ARE MONDAY TO SATURDAY 9:00AM TO 4:00PM, 1PM TO 4:00PM ON SUNDAYS, WITH NO RENTAL DEPARTURES AFTER 2:00PM. RENTALS STOP ON OCTOBER 26TH, 2024. WE MAY HAVE TO STOP SOONER, DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER.

Q: Can I make arrangements for a special occasion? A: Yes, we are always happy to discuss special arrangements. This will be especially important for large groups.
